About the Film

Inspired by multi-protagonist dramas such as  ‘A Separation’ and ‘Parasite’, 12 Hours explores the world through the microcosm of a family drama. At its core, this is a tale about dysfunctional people facing their deepest fears during a global health crisis. Through the lens of an intense family drama, we explore how deep divisions in people can be overcome when they are confronted by the specter of imminent death. For the filmmaker, the premise wrote itself as a response to the year 2020 to explore a fractured global experience.

The “global” aspect of the film is reflected both in front and behind the camera. As a joint Dutch/Pakistani/British production, filmed in Istanbul and penned virtually as a conversation between two writers on opposite sides of the world. From the Executive Producers to the Casting Agents, from the  Actors to the Crew, and even the owner of a remote farmhouse hidden in the forests of Istanbul, each individual involved in the creation of this film has contributed their own human experiences to the story.
